One more week in the states, and it should be an exciting one if I'm not paralyzed by the path in front of me. Just finished an amazing 6 weeks of work with Claire, Shaun, Marty, and others adapting "the prophet" into a theater production. For those who might not know, it is a work of poetry/proverbs by a Lebanese-American from the 1920's I believe. Critically our adaptation was not all that it might have been, but there were beautiful moments on and off the stage that I will never forget. I cannot imagine a more wonderful place than Orphalese to spend these last few weeks before my journey to Morocco. This week I need to 1) pack, 2) fill out numerous forms that have been neglected for the pursuit of art, 3) spend some time with my dear friend Daniel who is returning from Germany after a year and a half over seas in order to receive acceptance letters a most prestigious list of graduate programs, and 4) if everything goes smoothly, make road trip up to Charlotte to get down with my moe.rons one last time. I made an interesting connection while working on this play. Jane Hadley, the drama chair at Queens University, and perhaps the only one who fully shared claire and my enthusiasm for this project, informed me that her nephew Andy is with the Pcrps in morocco working on small business development. There is another connection which exists through Toni and Ron Peacock in Augusta, but knowing the social circles they keep... Anyway, I took a look at his blog tonight and decided that it was time to start one of my own. Hopefully it will be discovered by each and every one of those friends and family members who have demanded updates. And for those family members who no longer feel it necessary to put words like "email," and "technology" in quotation marks, I trust that these will be passed along to those less internet savvy family members, my dear mother especially. Thankyou all, and wish me luck.

hey buddy hows it going? Its His Dness aka Dieter. I am doing pretty well, I went to Dupont National State Park or something like that, you know I do not pay too much attention to detail. Anyways, I am sure you will be hearing a funny story from Claire about me. I fell in a DAMN WATERHOLE by a waterfall...and not just fell, i found that the waterhole was not the expected 2 feet deep, but more along the lines of 6 feet deep, because my shoulders totally submerged. My drenched clothes yielded many problems once exiting the water...problems such as items being drenched. They consist of the following: my bag, my cell phone, my journal, my insulin, my pen, and my wallet (but at least it forced me to get out the unnecessary items i did not need any longer). From there we went on to an exciting triple waterfall and I played Ninja Commando in the Forest while claire and jenni made out on the rocks. I stole claires shoes though during this time and used them as throwing stars during my ninja commando time alone. On our ride up to the forest claire decided on not throwing her cigarette out the window, but instead over her right shoulder to BURN me...what a DOUSH!!!

Anyways, that is just part of our story for our Sunday day off this past week. I hope you get a good laugh...and maybe we can get some pics of the infamous waterfall that has lowered my self esteem and moral dignity.

Peace out my jolly english friend.

Cheers,

Nat Dietrich

Similar questions about our culture are haunting me. I can't figure it out. The money isn't real because it can't be transformed into resources anymore. The money is lost in garbage that we can not dispose of. How can a man in India feed his family on two dollars a day, while I just bought a pack of cigs and a bag.
I can't write you personally because I am removed from myself in this state.
Keep your purpose everyday dear friend. Selfishly you are missed and envied. Truthfully you are an inspiration to a generation.
Except nat, he falls into water holes. Your words are published on our coffe table and they prove only what should be. Community? Family? They all belive in a god that doesn't exist and they worship him everyday. We must take down this idol, but it is the only god to be universal and have no personal or truthfull message. I guess the apple eve bit into was GREEN.
